Why We Use Organic Beeswax
The breathable seal that locks moisture in without suffocating skin
The breathable seal that keeps moisture in without suffocating your skin
Organic beeswax (cera alba) is one of the oldest cosmetic ingredients in human use. Its role in modern tallow-based skincare is structural and biological: it gives products their texture and firmness while creating a breathable barrier on the skin.
What beeswax does for your skin
- Forms a breathable barrier — locks in moisture without suffocating the skin or trapping heat
- Protects against environmental damage — wind, cold, and pollutants
- Soothes chapped or cracked skin — used historically in wound and burn care
- Provides natural firmness — gives balms and butters their structure without synthetic emulsifiers
- Contains vitamin A — supports skin cell renewal
Why organic beeswax
Conventional beeswax can be contaminated with pesticides, antibiotics, and miticides used in industrial beekeeping. Tau Tau Skin uses only certified organic beeswax sourced from beekeepers who do not treat hives with synthetic chemicals. The wax is filtered minimally to preserve its natural color, scent, and beneficial compounds.
Beeswax in our formulations
Beeswax is what gives our balms and butters their structure without synthetic emulsifiers, stabilizers, or fillers. Combined with grass-fed tallow, jojoba oil, and raw organic honey, beeswax completes the four-ingredient core that makes Tau Tau Skin formulas as simple — and as effective — as they are.
