Joe is a former U.S. Marine and presidential helicopter pilot. The same standards of precision and accountability he learned in service inform every decision in the formulation process — from ingredient sourcing to small-batch production.

Formulation philosophy

Joe began formulating tallow-based skincare in his family's kitchen in 2023. The catalyst was simple: he and his wife Jen kept searching for a moisturizer they could actually trust, and every option on shelves was full of synthetic preservatives, fragrances, and ingredients neither of them could pronounce or wanted anywhere near their family. So they made their own.

Joe approaches skincare formulation the way he approaches anything else: study the science, source the cleanest ingredients available, and refuse to compromise on quality. He formulates with grass-fed beef tallow — sourced from grass-fed, grass-finished cattle — as the foundation, paired with food-grade botanicals like bakuchiol, rosehip, pomegranate seed oil, organic honey, jojoba, and beeswax. Every Tau Tau Skin product is hand-made and hand-poured in Arizona, free from synthetic preservatives, water, alcohol, fragrance, seed oils, and known endocrine disruptors.
