What is tallow and why is it used in skincare?
Tallow is rendered beef fat, and it's one of the most bioavailable skincare ingredients that exists. Grass-fed tallow is rich in vitamins A, D, K, and E, plus CLA and omega-3s — and its fatty acid profile is nearly identical to human skin's natural oils. That means your skin absorbs it well and recognizes it, unlike petroleum or synthetic ingredients.
Will tallow body butter clog my pores?
No. Tallow has a low comedogenic rating and is non-comedogenic for most skin types. Because it mirrors your skin's own sebum, it doesn't clog pores the way heavier petroleum-based products or coconut oil can. Many customers with acne-prone skin find tallow actually helps balance their oil production.
Does tallow body smell like beef?
No. Properly rendered, grass-fed tallow is nearly odorless. Our unscented products have no scent at all. Our Golden Haze and Vanilla Whisper body butters use 100% plant-based scents — no synthetic fragrance, parfumes, or phthalates.
Is tallow body butter safe during pregnancy?
Our body butters are free from parabens, phthalates, synthetic fragrance, and other ingredients commonly avoided during pregnancy. All ingredients (grass-fed tallow, olive oil, honey, jojoba, beeswax) are food-grade. Always check with your doctor if you have specific concerns.
How long do your products last?
Most customers get 2-3 months of daily use from one tin of body butter or face balm. Because tallow is concentrated and deeply moisturizing, a small amount goes a long way. Products are best used within one year of opening.
Where does your tallow come from?
We use only 100% grass-fed and grass-finished beef tallow from pasture-raised cattle. The nutrient profile of grass-fed tallow is significantly higher than conventional tallow — more vitamins, more CLA, more fat-soluble nutrients your skin can actually use.
Is tallow suitable for eczema-prone skin?
Tallow is rich in vitamins A, D, K, and E, plus CLA. Many customers with sensitive, reactive, redness-prone skin reach for our unscented body butter. Start with Unscented to avoid any potential irritation from plant-based scents.
What happens if my tallow body butter melts?
Tallow can soften in heat. Keep it out of direct sunlight, hot cars, and mailboxes on warm days. If it melts, let it cool and stir gently — the texture will recover. Best used within one year of opening.
