Tau Tau Skin is a small-batch tallow skincare brand handmade in Arizona by a husband-and-wife team — Joe Popovich and Jen Popovich. The company was founded in 2023 after Jen, while pregnant, went looking for skincare she felt safe putting on her body and couldn't find a product line she trusted. Rather than settle for vague "natural" marketing covering up synthetic preservatives and fragrance, she and Joe decided to formulate their own.

The work is split the way it started. Joe — a former U.S. Marine and presidential helicopter pilot — formulates and hand-makes every Tau Tau product in small batches in Arizona. The same precision he brought to flying he now brings to formulation, testing every batch on his own family before it ever reaches a customer. Jen, an editorial photographer by training, leads ingredient research, brand creative, and visual direction. Every ingredient choice is one she has personally researched, with pregnancy, breastfeeding, and sensitive skin in mind.

We use ingredients chosen for what they do for skin. Our grass-fed tallow's molecular structure closely mirrors your skin's natural lipid barrier, containing the perfect ratio of fatty acids that your skin recognizes and readily absorbs. Combined with fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K, it provides deep nourishment most synthetic moisturizers can't match. Each formula is enriched with complementary botanicals: antioxidant-rich herbs that help skin hold up to everyday environmental stress.

Every Tau Tau product is free from synthetic fragrances, alcohol, water, and the synthetic preservatives many conventional formulas rely on. We don't use water as a base — which is why we don't need preservatives in the first place. Our short ingredient lists work with your skin, not just on the surface of it.
